Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches participants a five-step action plan to support someone developing signs and symptoms of a mental illness or in an emotional crisis:

 Assess for risk of suicide or harm

 Listen non-judgementally

 Give reassurance and information

 Encourage appropriate professional help

 Encourage self-help and other support strategies

Like CPR, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a person in crisis and connect the person with help. They do not diagnose or provide any counseling or therapy.

Mental Health First Aid training is offered by Leadership Baltimore County in partnership with Echo Resource Development and the Mental Health Association of Maryland.

Registration is extremely limited! The training is free to LBC’s Corporate Partners and Sponsors and $50 for all LBC sponsoring organizations. General registration opens Sept. 4, while Corporate Partners and Sponsors have priority access before then.
